FUNdamentals Program

Class Length: 1 hour-1.5 hours (depending on skill level)
Boys & Girls

The FUNdamentals Program is the perfect place for your child to gain a head start for an active life! We use the foundation of gymnastics to develop your child’s physical literacy. In other words, we help them “learn how to move”. Our main goal is to help them learn specific athletic abilities that will stick with them for life with transference to any sport! The program is divided into 10 steps where every step represents a milestone for the child’s development. Once the child graduates from Step 10, the physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills that they have mastered will allow them to have more opportunities to excel in sports for the rest of their life. If they choose to pursue competitive gymnastics after Step 10, they will have the ability to progress quickly without hitting a plateau due to our systematic, complete methodology.

Please note that fees (annual registration and Gymnastics BC membership) and first month’s tuition (pro-rated as applicable) will be charged at or shortly after the time of registration to hold your child’s spot in the class. If you are waitlisted, you will not be charged until a spot becomes available and you confirm enrolment at that time.

Boys FUNdamentals Program

Class Length: 1 hour-1.5 hours (depending on skill level)

Our Boys FUNdamentals program helps boys build strength, coordination, confidence, and the basic gymnastics skills needed to progress through the sport. Classes are active, structured, and encouraging, with each athlete working toward skills that can eventually be used in routines for our seasonal showcase.

Athletes will be introduced to the main events in men’s gymnastics including floor, bars, vault, parallel bars, rings, and pommel horse. As they move through the levels, they will continue to develop body control, flexibility, upper-body strength, safe landings, and overall athletic ability.

Each level builds on the one before it. Some athletes may move through the levels quickly, while others may need more time to feel confident and consistent with their skills. The goal is to help every gymnast build strong basics, enjoy learning, and be ready for future recreational, advanced, pre-competitive, or competitive pathways.

FUNdamentals 1-4 Boys

Boys Fundamentals 1 is the starting point for boys who are new to gymnastics or are still developing their basic skills.

This class introduces athletes to floor, bars, vault, and parallel bars, while also beginning to build the strength needed for rings and pommel horse. Gymnasts will work on safe landings, basic tumbling, support strength, swinging, coordination, and fundamental body shapes.

This level is also about learning how to participate well in class: listening to instructions, taking turns, trying new skills, and building confidence in the gym.

Boys Fundamentals 2 continues to build on the skills from Boys Fundamentals 1. Athletes will keep working on their basics, but with more focus on control, strength, technique, and consistency.

Gymnasts will spend more time refining skills on floor, bars, vault, and parallel bars, while continuing to develop the strength and coordination needed for rings and pommel horse. This level helps prepare athletes for the more advanced apparatus work introduced in Boys Fundamentals 3.

Boys Fundamentals 3 introduces athletes to all six men’s gymnastics apparatus: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and high bar/low bar progressions.

This level is for gymnasts who have built a good foundation and are ready for more challenging skills. Classes will place a greater emphasis on strength, technique, body control, and connecting skills together.

Boys Fundamentals 4 is an advanced recreational boys gymnastics class for athletes who have developed strong basics and are ready for higher-level progressions.

Gymnasts in this class will continue working across all six men’s gymnastics apparatus, with dedicated time for strength and conditioning. Skills become more advanced, and athletes will be expected to show stronger body control, better technique, and more independence in their training.
